Thank you to everyone who provided feedback about their experience of the current Patient Transport Service, we have received 125 responses from across the region and these will all be considered in the next phase of the process.
The survey has now closed but we will be using your comments to inform the Service Specification for the new contract. Once a contract is awarded, we will also share the results of this survey with you.
Seven local Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) are working together to procure a new contract for the Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service because the current contracts in place are due to expire.
At present, there is more than one contract in place across NHS Fareham and Gosport, South Eastern Hampshire, West Hampshire, North Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton CCGs. It is hoped the joint procurement of just one contract across the seven CCGs will lead to a more efficient and consistent service across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight
South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) NHS Foundation Trust, which already provides some patient transport services in Hampshire, has been awarded the contract to provide patient transport services across the county from 1st October 2014.
Non-Emergency Patient Transport is a service offered by the NHS; available to patients across Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton. To access this service, you must be deemed eligible under a set of nationally directed criteria agreed by the Department of Health.
Access and eligibility for this service will not change as a result of this procurement.
