After months of detailed planning, two neighbouring Lee-on-the-Solent practices will formally merge next Monday (April 1).
Manor Way Surgery and Lee Medical Practice are joining forces under a new name - Solent View Medical Practice.
NHS Fareham and Gosport Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has approved the merger as being in the best interest of patients – and the long-term sustainability of both practices.
The practices, which are both based in the Lee-on-the-Solent Health Centre, have more than 12,000 registered patients.
Dr Ian Bell, a GP partner, said: “These are really exciting times for us. Becoming a single practice, and pooling our clinical skills and staffing resources will enable us to continue to offer the highest possible quality services and access to those services to our patients.
“It will also eliminate the duplication of nursing and administrative services across the two practices, saving us time to deal faster with patient enquiries. There will be more choice of nurses available for screening services and we will have much more robust cover for staff holiday and sickness.
“Patients will get more choice of male and female doctors, the minor surgery injections and cutting service provided by Lee Medical Practice will be extended to patients of Manor Way and all other existing services offered by both practices will continue.”
Patients requiring the ‘same day access’ will be seen in the current Manor Way end of the building and routine appointments will be in the Lee-on-the-Solent part of the building.
