Same Day Access Services

Fareham SDAS launch small

Both Gosport and Fareham have separate same day access services for patients needing an urgent appointment with a healthcare professional including a GP, nurse or physiotherapist.

In Fareham, three practices - Highlands, Jubilee (Titchfield) and Whiteley – The Sovereign Health network - are providing a combined service for all their patients who need urgent same day GP, nurse or MSK (musculoskeletal) first contact practitioner appointments during normal surgery hours.

The service is run from Fareham Community Hospital, Locks Heath.

In Gosport, the SDAS was run at Gosport War Memorial Hospital, now temporarily from Forton Medical Centre, by staff from The Willow Group.

The services provide both same day ‘phone triage and face-to-face appointments.

There is no change to the way that patients at the other Gosport and Fareham practices book appointments.

How the schemes work

Patients from participating practices call their practice as usual to request a same day appointment.

The receptionist takes the patient’s details and appropriate clinical information to facilitate the triage process, and agrees for a health professional to call back the patient

Patients are called in order of clinical priority following initial review by the triaging clinician. This results in a telephone consultation or the offer of an appointment.
