The two partners at Brockhurst Medical Centre have taken the difficult decision to stop delivering GP services from 31st December 2020. As such they have formally handed back their GP contract to Fareham and Gosport CCG. This decision has been taken as a result of difficulties in GP recruitment and increasing workload pressure.
This means that there will no longer be provision of primary care services at the practice from the start of January, 2021. We know and understand that this news could be disappointing and unsettling to the patients registered with the practice.
We have considered the different options to ensure that patients will have continued and ongoing access to primary care services from January 2021 and we propose to do this through what is called a ‘managed transfer’. This will secure the transfer of all registered patients to other practices in Gosport in an organised and facilitated way to avoid too much extra pressure at one time being put on the other practices in the borough.
Letter to patients
We have written to every patient registered at the practice to inform them of the situation and invite them to state their top three preferences for an alternate practice – as well as complete a short survey to share their views. A copy of the letter sent is available here.
Question and Answer sheet
We have developed a question and answer sheet about the situation and what patients need to do. The sheet is available here.
Virtual meetings for patients
We will be holding virtual meetings where patients will be able to ask questions and share their views. The meetings will be held on the following dates. If you are a patient registered with the practice and would like to attend one of the virtual meetings you will need to register using the links below.
Patients with concerns or issues
If any patient registered with the practice has any concerns or issues they would like to raise, please feel free to email us.
